If you’ve been swirling around on the internet this week, you have probably seen something about Taiwan’s new Taichung Convention Center, which seems to still be in the concept phase to date, but has stirred up a lot of conversation.

If you haven’t heard anything about this convention center, hang out, it’s quite exciting! This center will feature high-tech solar-powered, pleaded skins; which will allow natural sunlight to shine in and air flow to stream in and out.

Taichung_01“The design is conceived as a continuous weave of architecture and landscape that blurs the boundary between architecture, public space and urban landscape, proposing a futuristic vision based on the East’s naturalistic philosophy,” according to the design and architecture firm, MAD Ltd, based in Beijing.

MAD’s approach to this sustainable development is based on traditional philosophy and aesthetics, not on technology. Twainese government hopes that the center will become a “new local landmark inspiring future sustainable development.”
